ICE Cable: The Wired LivingHome
ICE Cable Systems brings the WIRED LivingHome to Life!
ICE Cable Systems - Driving the Cable Culture
WIRED magazine and LivingHomes - a pioneer in green, prefabricated development - are proud to present the first ever WIRED Home, a showcase of the best in sustainability, technology and design.
|
The WIRED LivingHome is where green plugs in. LEED® certified and designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, the house is manufactured in the factory to reduce cost and waste. Installation only took two and a half days. Fully automated to allow for simplicity and
control, it is filled with the latest in gadgets, gear and appliances, yet still keeps kilowatt usage low. Even the car is environmentally friendly. Emitting essentially nothing but water vapor, the BMW Hydrogen 7 is the first hydrogen-powered luxury performance sedan for everyday use.
This $4 million modernist home in an
exclusive enclave of Los Angeles allows luxury and the environment to live together in
harmony. The 4,057 sq. ft. WIRED LivingHome is designed to attain at least a Gold rating from the USGBC LEED® for Homes Program. Consistent with its focus on sustainable design, LivingHomes and WIRED deconstructed rather than demolished the property’s existing
house, reducing the amount of building materials sent to landfill. The home’s anticipated energy use is 36% more efficient than a conventional residence of a similar size. The home will also feature a forced hot air radiant heating and cooling system; recycled glass bathroom countertops; Heath ceramic tile; low-maintenance high-design ecological kitchen cabinetry; an environmentally friendly washer/dryer system that uses less water and energy; windows and doors constructed with recycled
glass and aluminum; reclaimed redwood milled from old military barracks; FSC-certified exterior siding; tankless water heaters; and LED lights that consume less energy than conventional light bulbs.

Here’s a couple of reasons ICE Cable Systems was chosen for this futuristic project:
The project required quality cable that would ensure that the innovative features of this home would work to their potential. ICE’s FX Series speaker cable was a perfect match for this home. It features Oxygen-Free High Conductivity Copper; Direct Burial Rating; Ascending/Descending Footmarkers; Round, Wet-Flex Jackets; EZ-Strip tissue; and the unique iLabel Cable Identification System.
One of the most important requirements of any project is meeting a sometimes almost impossible schedule. ICE’s State-Of-The-Art Packaging was a necessary component to keep the job moving - ICE’s superior double wall boxes that withstand extraordinary job-site abuse are by far the toughest in the industry. And the Big Mouth Payout, 20 times larger than the ordinary box, helped get this home completed on schedule.
|
And here are some reasons why every home integration professional should choose ICE!
