Better In Every Way Possible
Since our inception, ICE Cable Systems has been a leading United States manufacturer of low-voltage wire and cable. We supply integrators, contractors and installers with high-quality cable, including Speaker Cable, Category/Data Cable, Coaxial/Video Cable, Alarm Wire, Structured Wiring, Plenum Cables, control cables and cables for specialty systems—all at competitive prices. We know that your business can benefit from our unbeatable combination of product quality, selection, price and service.
Foot Markers – 001/499ft
Our foot markers show how much cable has been used and how much is left, and are printed every two feet on all of our cables. This is useful in reducing waste and making the best use of the cable remaining in each box or spool. Installers will often throw away cable when the box gets light, since they don’t know if they have enough for their next pull. Now, you’ll know exactly how much you have left before you pull the cable.
Standards & Specs
At ICE, there is no cutting corners. We build our cable to meet or exceed the necessary specifications. We go even further to make sure that all of our cables meet the RoHS standards, as well. We work harder to make sure everything is properly made. When you buy RG-59, you get it made the right way. That means bare copper center conductor and 95% BC shield. No CCS centers and aluminum shields.
Big Mouth Payout (BMP)
We pay as much attention to our packaging as we do to our cables, and it starts with superior packaging for Category cables. Most Category constructions have an inherent residual twist caused by the tight lays used in the cable manufacturing process. This can cause problems while paying out of traditional packages. Our Big Mouth Payout (BMP) boxes feature a new type of coil payout that’s 20 times larger and results in an exceptionally quick and efficient payout while improving productivity. The figure-8 wind cancels out recoil, back-twist, kinks, and even knots to allow the cable to easily pull from the package. Learn More
Direct Burial Ratings
Our 12, 14 and 16 gauge Reference Series speaker cables are Direct Burial rated, saving you the money and hassle of having to buy two different cables for indoor/outdoor applications. This means less inventory for you to buy and stock in your trucks. You’ll notice a significant amount of material in our Reference Series cables…and it’s not by accident. Passing UL’s stringent requirement for crush testing means building the cables with enough material to withstand the punishment.
EZ Strip Tissue
Have you ever tried to strip and remove a speaker cable jacket from more than just a few inches from the cut? The PVC jacket sticks to the conductors and it can be quite an exercise. Here, a thin layer of tissue is placed around the conductors – under the outer jacket – making the cable much easier to strip. Once the jacket is scored, it slides off easily, with no effort.
Gigabit Ready – 350mhz
ICE Category cables are tested to 350mhz, making them the ideal solution for high speed, gigabit Ethernet LAN applications, but great for data and telephones as well as various other audio/video applications. When combined with Cat 6 and other specific cables, Cat 5e 350mhz provides the perfect backbone to future-proofing your homes for tomorrow’s technology.
iLabel – Better Cable Identification
iLabel is a print legend to help you identify and pre-mark your cable for each ROOM, WALL and JACK location – and it’s printed on every one of our cables. Our unique, common-sense cable marker eliminated the need for handwritten or expensive pre-printed labels. The cables come pre-printed with location and application information that can be circled with a felt-tipped pen. Most pre-printed labeling systems have numbers and letters, so your installer needs a reference sheet to tell them what “Room A” corresponds to. We’ve taken it one step further and made it much easier. Each room is designated with an abbreviation that tells your installer specifically where the cable is going (ie, BR1, GAR, KIT, etc.). Here’s an example of one of our print legends.
Oxygen Free Copper
We use Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) in our Reference Series speaker cables to ensure premium sound quality in the installed system. Simply put, OFC copper allows for a richer sound quality. Without getting into crystal junctures, the metal triad and other tech stuff, the secret to capturing the nuances of sound and its texture and purity is low-level signal transmission. If the formation of copper oxide is reduced or eliminated, low-level signal transmission is unobstructed. Result: great sound. This is real value that can be offered to the client/homeowner for a level of assurance regarding the backbone of the project, and separates the installer from the competition.
RoHS Compliant Cable
The market has spoken. Customers want green technology and more sustainable products and behaviors. ICE satisfies this by offering ONLY environmentally friendly cable that is fully RoHS compliant. RoHS is the European standard set up as a directive for the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS), such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. This is more assurance to the customer that the products being used were manufactured responsibly.
Round Jackets
To help you avoid snags when pulling cable, we’ve made our jackets as round as possible. Even our two-conductor cables are made to be extremely round. Lesser designs require filler material to achieve this, and that makes the cables more expensive and messy when stripping. We avoid fillers entirely and replace them with good, solid engineering.
Satellite/Cable TV
Our versatile, high-resolution video cables are designed for Satellite, Cable, RF and other analog and digital video applications. Fully MPEG-4 compatible, our cable meets all of the specs of satellite providers.
Wet Slick Jackets
We’ve upgraded the most popular control cable SKUs, 18-2EPS, 22-2EPS, 22-2OS and 22-4OS to help you spend less time pulling cables. The 10009 PVC compound gives the cable a shiny look and a slick feel, resulting in less friction, easier pulls and more flexibility than a standard PVC jacket. Companies who tell you that regular PVC pulls easier are just trying to save the additional 10-15% manufacturing costs. Once you use it, you’ll never go back to regular PVC.
